Response to Intervention
Mission:

     Response to Intervention (RtI) is a school-wide pro-action framework using student achievement data to develop a seamless approach to delivering instruction.  Supported by research-based practices, this framework will provide for appropriate levels of intervention to enhance student achievement.

Interventions
REMEDIAL MATH:  This program focuses on children who are below basic category.  This is a small group (5-6 students) who receive intensive instruction that occurs in a pull out setting.  Children can be in this program 3-6 days per six day cycle.

REMEDIAL READING: This program focuses on children who are basic or below basic categories.  This is a small group (5-6 students) who receive intensive instruction that occurs in a pull out setting.  Children can be in this program 3-6 days per six day cycle.

COMPASS LEARNING: This is an integrated math and language arts computer program which the children have access to at home, classroom, and lab setting.  Using this program 2-4 times per six day cycle will support the regular curriculum.  To access the program at home the student uses their same school password and log in procedures.

FAST FORWORD:  This is a computer program that is conducted in the lab setting.  The reading specialists and special education teachers assist the students in an effort to complete this brain based program that has proved to promote reading and language arts achievement.  The Fast Forward activities are designed to help student’s process auditory and visual information.  The game like program helps students focus their attention.  These skills are needed for academic success.

BRIDGES:  This program helps students who have difficulty understanding core concepts of academic subject matter by instructing them in a way that builds on each individual’s learning strengths, not weaknesses, and by improving underlying cognitive abilities.

SMALL GROUP COUNSELING:  Our counselors have conducted small group counseling for specific needs such as: friendship “lunch buddies”, divorce and separation, and bereavement groups.  The counselors also do full class lessons for specific classrooms when the need arises.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS SERVICES:  The English as a Second Language (ESL) program serves students who speak 20-plus languages as their first language.  The school district must provide our English Language learners (ELL’s) with a planned program to facilitate the acquisition of English language skills and provide instructional program appropriate to the student’s developmental and instructional level.  The ESL program provides the bridge to the general education standards expected of all students.
